Complex event processing, reasoning and real-time feedback

In this theme we focus on complex event processing, i.e. multimodal event integration, reasoning, complex event detection, and feedback. Here, “complex event” means “an event detected using two or more sensors” (as opposed to a “simple event” which originates from one sensor). This is relevant for a great variety of application areas including consumer behavior, safety & security, human factors, neuroscience and zoology. These concepts are investigated in a variety of domains, including safety at home (detection of incidents; GUARANTEE) and ambient-assisted living (development of mobile e-coaches for elderly people; E-MOSION). The aim is to develop a novel product that will offer multimodal data integration and synchronization, import of low-level events, detection of high-level events, reasoning and feedback, independent of the type of event.
