Another year, another successful Neuroscience conference for Noldus

13 December 2011

This year, The Society of Neuroscience was kind enough to bring Neuroscience 2011 to our back yard. Just 45 minutes from our US headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia and with the picturesque Washington Monuments as a backdrop, 30,000 Neuroscientists descended upon the DC convention center for this exciting 5 day scientific event featuring the newest breakthroughs and innovations in Neuroscience Research. For Noldus, this meant an opportunity to showcase our tools and solutions as well as participate in several scientific programs throughout the week.

The conference started off Sunday with a record number of visitors to our booth. It was non-stop action as researchers wandered in to learn about the newest release of EthoVision XT, the recent upgrades to CatWalk XT, or how our DanioVision System could improve their studies.  Product Manager Reinko Roelofs said: “This is always such a great opportunity for us to meet our users from all over the world and get excellent feedback on our products and services.”

New this year to the Noldus booth was the “Noldus Neuroscience Roadshow”. We invited Dr. Lucas Noldus, President of Noldus Information Technology, the Product Managers for EthoVision XT, DanioVision, PhenoTyper, and CatWalk XT along with two of our trainers into our booth for several help sessions and round table discussions with our users. Deemed a success, we will be taking the Roadshow out to several more conferences in 2012!

Arguably, the highlight of the show was the Noldus sponsored Satellite Symposium; “Standardization of Behavioral Tests in Mouse Phenotyping – Variety, Methodology, and Other Important Considerations”. Chaired by Dr. Alicia Brantley, of The Scripps Research Institute, it featured presentations by Dr. Wim Crusio (Université de Bordeaux I), Dr. Richard Brown (Dalhousie University), and Dr. Allan Kalueff (Tulane Medical School) on the need for standardization in research. Several lively discussions followed the presentations which helped make this the most popular symposium we’ve put on in years. Ruud Tegelenbosch said: “This was one of the best symposia I visited with animated talks from very experienced scientists followed by a lively discussion.
