A new educational tool for Dutch students in psychology
7 November 1999
Wageningen - Learn the Fundamentals of Behavioral Observation (available in The Netherlands and in Dutch only)
The Observer Student Edition
Once the design of a behavioral research project has been well considered, doing the actual research can be a very stimulating activity. This is the thought behind a new educational tool for behavioral research, resulting from a cooperation between the publisher Wolters-Noordhoff and Noldus Information Technology. This package includes two books:
Gedragsobservatie ("Behavioral Observation") by J.P. van de Sande (ISBN 90-01-77495-4). This textbook is an introduction to doing observations in a systematic way.
Werkboek Gedragsobservatie ("Workbook Behavioral Observation") by L.H. Cristoph and J.P. van de Sande (ISBN 90-01-77496-2). This book contains exercises that have especially been developed to teach students the ins and outs of behavioral observations, including the basic principles of observing, how to set up a research project, dealing with statistics and the interpretation of results. The examples used are close to everyday experiences.
At this moment, both books are only available in Dutch.
The Observer Student Edition
A CD-ROM with The Observer Student Edition, which teaches the student how to use today's technology for behavioral research, completes the package. Besides The Observer software, this CD contains digital video clips of animal and human behavior, which can be used to practice the observation, recording and analysis of behavior. The Observer Student Edition can be used with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT4.0.
