20 Years of innovative leadership

Noldus Information Technology proudly announces its 20th anniversary in business. Established in 1989 by Lucas Noldus, the company has evolved from a one-man operation to a leading developer of software and hardware with over 100 employees and offices in the United States, France, Germany, Hungary, Spain and China.

The Observer^®, launched in 1990, was the first in a series of successful software products, including EthoVision^®, UltraVox™, MatMan™, Pocket Observer, Theme™, uLog™, CatWalk™, and FaceReader™. The introduction of the PhenoTyper^® product line in 2004 marked our debut as a hardware manufacturer. Over the years Noldus has evolved from a software vendor into a solid provider of integrated systems and solutions, comprising of software, hardware, and services. We can now supply complete observational lab setups or multi-room research facilities. Since 1989, our systems have found their way to almost five thousand universities, research institutes, and companies in over 75 countries.

Lucas Noldus comments “From day one, our mission has been to offer scientists the best possible tools for behavioral research. This ambition still stands today, and we continue to invest heavily in research and development to deliver the tools for tomorrow’s research challenges. Future releases will include new products for advanced test automation, behavior recognition, and automatic gait analysis, to name just a few. In the mean time, we are expanding our partnerships with leading manufacturers of complementary products and top scientific institutes. These help us to deliver optimal combinations of hardware and software to scientists worldwide. Getting closer to the customer also remains high on our agenda. This means more involvement of end-users in the product development process, and more local presence in different regions of the world. Last week’s opening of our new office in Beijing, China, follows from this strategy.”
