Now available - The Observer XT 10.1 and Pocket Observer 3.1

5 November 2010

Noldus is very pleased to announce an update to The Observer® XT 10 behavioral research software. Available free of charge to The Observer XT 10.0 users, this update offers more power and ease-of-use to this popular software.

Some of the changes you can expect when using The Observer XT 10.1
At Noldus, we continuously work to improve our existing products. That is why we are excited to share this new update with you. New features include the ability to print the event log allowing you to show students the event log in great detail during a workshop. Another feature of the 10.1 is that you can easily change the time of an event in your event log by using a short key. The advantage of using short keys is that you can keep your eyes on the video. Furthermore, in this update, the time formats have become part of the Project Settings, and it’s the only place where you can set time formats for a project preventing you from accidently changing the time settings. You can see the relative and absolute time and can decide which format works best for you. Another improvement that has been made enables quick and easy import of external data. New header detection methods have been added to make sure that the software recognizes the headers of your external data file. In short, you can now use manual or automatic header detection.
The overall performance of The Observer XT has been improved, also. The software is more powerful and will improve productivity. It will give you valuable feedback such as when you open a project, a progress bar informs you about the steps The Observer XT performs making the software more transparent to work with.

Noldus also announces the release of Pocket Observer 3.1 - a valuable update of our handheld observation system.

Pocket Observer 3.1 – the handheld observation system
Pocket Observer 3.1 software runs on a handheld device enabling coding in the field. In this software update, the maximum number of coding scheme elements (subjects, behaviors, and behavior modifiers) has been increased from 30 to 100. The maximum length for coding scheme element names is now 16 characters meaning that a name such as ‘biology teacher’ can be used in your coding scheme. Keycodes are now set to a maximum length of 3 characters. All in all, these improvements will give you more freedom to use extensive coding schemes with longer names and longer keycodes.
