Now shipping: EthoVision XT

After three years of intensive development, investigation of the customer’s wishes, and extensive validation testing, Noldus is proud to announce the inclusion of EthoVision XT in the EthoVision family. EthoVision XT is a new video tracking system that provides solutions to new challenges in behavioral studies. The new system builds upon the proven performance of its closest relative; EthoVision 3.1 is a versatile video tracking system, which has over eight hundred users and has been cited in more than one thousand scientific publications.


Noldus releases CatWalk

Wageningen - After a long period of development and intensive validation testing, Noldus is pleased to announce the release of CatWalk: an unique automated gait analysis system. Due to its wide range of parameters, CatWalk can be applied to any study dealing with (disturbances in) locomotion. Applications can be found in the fields of spinal cord injuries, muscular diseases, neuropathic pain, and many others.


Theme well represented at Neuroscience 2006

At Neuroscience 2006, the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), three papers were presented on behavioral patterns discovered with the Theme software. This fits a trend of increasing interest for Theme in neuroscience research.

Huawei Technologies selects Noldus tools for usability testing of telecommunications products

Huawei Technologies has selected Noldus Information Technology’s tools for user research and usability testing of new telecommunications hardware and software. The agreement was celebrated during the “Innovation Dinner” in Shenzhen, witnessed by Mrs. Karien van Gennip, Minister for Foreign Trade of The Netherlands, during a trade mission to the People’s Republic of China.


Noldus Information Technology builds state-of-the-art user experience lab in Salzburg, Austria

One of the most advanced user experience labs in Europe was recently installed by Noldus in the heart of the old town of Salzburg, Austria, at the Center for Advanced Studies and Research in Information and Communication Technologies & Society. Noldus Information Technology has designed and built the complete lab, which is equipped with state-of-the-art software and hardware to enable highly advanced multimodal testing. The ICT&S Center is part of the University of Salzburg and is directed by Dr. Ursula Maier-Rabler. The user experience lab is now a core facility of the Human Computer Interaction and Usability Unit, which is directed by Manfred Tscheligi. The lab was officially opened on 3 May 2006, when managing director Lucas Noldus was invited to speak during the opening symposium. 


Noldus becomes partner in "Restaurant of the Future"

Noldus Information Technology becomes the technical partner in the “Restaurant of the Future”, a unique facility for innovative consumer research under construction in Wageningen, The Netherlands. The Restaurant of the Future will allow testing of new food concepts, products, equipment or restaurant design in a real-life context.


Noldus releases The Observer XT 6.1

Noldus Information Technology released The Observer XT version 6.1, an important software update of our flagship software product The Observer XT. The update contains new and improved features throughout the package. The ergonomics and efficiency of the coding part was improved and the video editing functionality was revised. New features include smoother integration of external video equipment, such as MPEG encoders or eye tracker videos, and the ability to exchange event logs between workstations in multi-user set-ups. Besides that, a number of suggestions by users and technical improvements – invisible but significant! – were implemented. The update is available for free for all licensed users of The Observer XT from the download section.


Noldus contributes to Rabobank winning Usability Award 2006

The Usability Award 2006 has been granted this year to Rabobank’s web site. Rabobank Group is a full-range financial services provider founded on cooperative principles, operating on national and international levels. Each year, the Usability Award is granted to the Dutch organization with the most user-friendly web site. Over 900 web sites have been submitted by the Dutch public. Out of these, the ten best were evaluated by a jury consisting of several professional usability experts, including this year Mr. Joerka, chairman of the Dutch chapter of SIGCHI (Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction of the Association for Computing Machinery). The web sites are assessed on several criteria, such as navigation, lay-out, and quality of text. Rabobank’s web site http://www.rabobank.nl/ was chosen because of the clear navigation, the calm effect of using white spaces, and the accessible presentation of text.
