With 2017 quickly ending, it is the perfect time for some reflection. The year 2017 meant the start of many exciting developments at Noldus. From a sparkling new blog design to showcase the latest research findings to a bigger audience, to a shiny and new meeting space for customers and partners in our booth at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. Let’s take a look at some company highlights of 2017!
Our highlights of 2017
February 2017 – New website for Viso
Viso is the easy-to-use solution for creating video and audio recordings, debriefing and playback. To fully display how its versatile features can benefit your research, we launched a website for Viso. Here you can easily read how it works, and find useful white papers and interesting user stories that show how others have used Viso in their research.
With Viso, you can make independent recordings in multiple rooms at once, providing you with the video material needed to gain insights into processes, human performance, and communication. This helps you to educate, train, and improve the skills of your students, therapists, counselors, or employees.

October 2017 – Detecting affective attitudes with FaceReader 7.1
With the new release of FaceReader 7.1, it is now possible to examine the emotions of test participants even further, and be able to measure three commonly used affective attitudes: 'interest', 'boredom', and 'confusion'. October 2017 - Zebrafish community website
Zebrafish are still gaining popularity as lab animals. They have become an important vertebrate model to study (developmental) neurobiology and behavior, as over 80% of genes we know to be associated with human disease (e.g. Parkinson’s and addiction) have homologues in zebrafish.
To service the community, Noldus has described topics researchers all around the world are working on. Community website www.nolduszebrafish.com includes descriptions of all kinds of behavioral tests, research cases, and free white papers.
November 2017 –Neuroscience 2017, Washington, D.C.
The annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience is one of the best places for Noldus to meet with customers, connect with partners, and bring solutions to the community. In our sparkling new booth we provided live product demo’s and free training during the meeting.
Moreover, it has enough space for you to sit down and get a free behavioral seminar on the spot! Its debut was well received by visitors and we definitely look forward to host you in our new booth at future Neuroscience meetings.
We love to meet you in our new booth next year!
Neuroscience and beers
After organizing a satellite symposium for 10 years in a row, this year we opted for a somewhat different setting. So we set out, booked an awesome location in Washington, DC the day preceding the Society for Neuroscience convention and held our first Neuroscience Seminar in a bar.
Just like previous years, scientists from around the world gathered to discuss methods and techniques in translational neuroscience in an interactive way. This time while enjoying the informal café atmosphere of the City Tap House at the same time. We are already looking forward to organizing another seminar in an exciting venue next year!
Behavioral research in the spotlight
Good behavioral research requires good methods, and good tools. The scientific world is always on the move, and new tools are developed at an increasingly rapid rate. At Noldus we work closely together with the scientific community, in order to develop and deliver the best software and instruments to advance behavioral research.
Throughout the year several Noldus customers were happy to share their research and use of our tools with us. These three customer stories display how innovative solutions have advanced their behavioral research.
Do you have research experiences that you would like to share? We love to hear your story! Feel free to get in touch and share your story with us.
We are definitely looking back at a fantastic year and look forward to continue this positive flow in 2018, together with you! Happy New Year!
