The main interest of the Human Technology Interaction group at Eindhoven University of Technology concerns the question how people deal and interact with technological systems, how this affects human life in positive and negative ways and how these interactions can be optimized.

The Observer is available in both labs. The Observer is a professional software program for the study of behavioral processes. It can be used to log activities, postures, movements, positions, facial expressions, social interaction, human-system interaction or any other aspect of human behavior.

The digital video recordings are automatically started and stopped from within The Observer so that observational data scored 'live' and video recordings are synchronized. After the test(s) the collected data can be used to find specific events in the video for more detailed qualitative analysis and to calculate statistics (task duration, frequency, etc.). Video highlight clips are generated from within The Observer for presentation purposes.
