The Observer XT consists of a number of modules that can be combined to offer the user an optimal solution. The following modules are available:
- Base Module: for live coding, off-line editing and analysis of behavioral data. Required in any set-up of The Observer XT.
- Advanced Analysis Module: for calculating inter- and intrarater reliability, and lag sequential analysis.
- Video Module: for synchronized recording video during the observation, and off-line scoring of digital media files. All video functionality is in this module.
- Multiple Video Extension: playback of four instead of two digital media files. The Video Module is required.
- External Data Module: for synchronized recording of data on an external data acquisition system, and synchronized playback of these data with the behavior and video if applicable. Special import and export functions.
- Screen Capture Module: the Screen Capture Module is an add-on product for recording computer screens as a digital media file. Installing software on the test PC is not necessary. Screen captures are high quality so texts are readable on screen. No scan converter is needed.
- Mobile Module: an add-on to enable the use of Pocket Observer, the Observer version that runs on handheld computers.
