New update of EthoVision
Wageningen, 19 April 2005 - Noldus Information Technology announces the release of EthoVision 3.1, an update of its video tracking system.
Until recently EthoVision Pro and Color-Pro could detect animals in a maximum of 16 arenas. In response to demands from our users we have extended the functionality of EthoVision. One of the main enhancements in version 3.1 is that is allows you to track up to 100 arenas simultaneously while maintaining its full analysis capabilities. This extended functionality opens up possibilities increase the productivity of your research. Especially in research areas where tracking large numbers of individually housed small animals (e.g. zebrafish, drosophila) is concerned.
Other features Extended digital video file support The use of digital video (media) files has become increasingly popular in behavioral research. Digital video files are easy to re-analyze, copy, store and share with fellow researchers. EthoVision 3.1 includes extra functionality to fully exploit the advantages that digital media files can bring. High-resolution digital video Another novelty in version 3.1 is the support for high-resolution digital video. With a resolution of 1400 x 1000 (and higher) the maximum arena/object ratio is effectively quadrupled. This enables you to track objects as small as 0.25 to 0.125% of the size of the arena. EthoVision 3.1 supports the analysis of high-speed video files. Modern digital (high-speed) cameras are able to produce video files at 60 Hz or more. This allows you to capture very fast movements like for instance startle-responses. MPEG-encoder programming tool EthoVision 3.1 includes a special tool that allows you to program the Canopus MVR-1000 MPEG-encoder boards (both PCI and USB2). It enables you, for instance, to automatically create seven 24 hour video files during a full week observation.
