Contents:

1. How to create a configuration for my work? During this part you learn how to create the right configuration for your research or tests. You will also learn how you can use your existing projects in The Observer XT, and how you can benefit most from the new configuration features. This is an essential step in using The Observer: creating the right configuration will enable you to create the right output and analysis after you have done the observation. This part includes extensive practical exercises.

2. Observing with The Observer. The observation module has a lot of new functions. Knowing how to use these can help to perform your observations in a more efficient way. We will pay special attention to the External Data Module: a complete new add-on that enables you to attach streams of physiological data or other signals to your behavioral data and video. This part also includes extensive practical exercises.

3. Analyzing your observational data. How you want to select, group and analyze the data you collected during the observation, influences the structure of your configurations. Therefore it is important to think about analysis before you start collecting data. During this part of the training we show you the ins and outs of data selection and analysis. Since The Observer XT does not contain all the analysis functions available in The Observer 5.0, we will also show how you can export XT data for analysis in 5.0.

4. Create output with The Observer. What can you do with your collected data and analysis reports? During this part we show you how to create video highlight clips. We also teach you how you can export data for use in other software packages like SPSS or Excel. Finally you learn how you can use data from The Observer in your reports and presentations.

During the practical exercises we use realistic examples, as much as possible coming from your own research area. If you have special requirements regarding the contents of the training, please contact us in advance.
