EthoVision
The video signal produced by PhenoTyper can be fed into a computer that runs EthoVision software. With EthoVision, the animal inside the PhenoTyper cage is detected and its movement can be tracked and analyzed. Furthermore, the video of the PhenoTyper cage can be divided into zones of interest, to analyze the position and movement of the animal in relation to these zones. Furthermore, based on conditions, the stimuli inside the top unit can be activated, and input from add-ons can be measured as frequencies and durations.

The Observer
The video signal produced by PhenoTyper can be fed into a computer that runs The Observer software. Very detailed behaviors, such as grooming or chewing can be observed with the software and coded by simple key strokes. The coded behaviors are automatically time stamped and frequencies and durations of these behaviors can be analyzed as well as time-based relationships between different behaviors.
