Satellite symposium during Neuroscience 2008
Stepping Out: New Methods for Evaluating Recovery of Function in Rodent Models After Spinal Cord Injury
On November 17 (2008), at the Washington Convention Center (Washington, DC, Unites States), Noldus hosted its 4th satellite symposium during the Society for Neuroscience conference, which was entitled “Stepping out: New methods for evaluating recovery of function in rodent models after spinal cord injury”.
The Observer XT Coder License: A cost effective coding solution
In many projects, the coding work is more than one person can manage. One way to ease the burden is to divide this task among students and colleagues, which is why Noldus developed The Observer XT Coder Licenses. Ideal for collecting and editing behavioral data, you can now order these Coder Licenses.
- Work together on a research project.
- Save time, resources and cost.
- Score behavior live on the spot.
- Use the read-only project to score pre-recorded video.
- Stay in control of the collected data.
To work with Coder Licenses, you need one complete license of The Observer XT 8.0 for the project set-up, extensive analysis and to combine the datasets. A Coder License is a license of The Observer XT with limited functionality for a fraction of the price of a complete license.
Experience the power of EthoVision XT for 10% less!
Experience the power of EthoVision XT for 10% less! EthoVision® XT is the state-of-the-art video tracking system for automatically recording animal activity and behavior. Our continuous innovations have led to the best system for object detection and behavior recognition.
More than 1,100 institutes worldwide have taken advantage of the power and flexibility of EthoVision for automating tests like the open field, Morris water maze, plus maze, novel object recognition, etc. Are you neXT?
Noldus software contributes to aviation safety
Together with 40 European partners, Noldus works on the HILAS project (Human Integration into the Lifecycle of Aviation Systems). Within the framework of this project experiments were successfully completed at the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory. A photo special in ‘de Volkskrant’: GRACE keeps an eye on everything: from heart to pupil, gives a great insight into the experiments.
GRACE (Generic Research Aircraft Cockpit Environment) is a state-of-the-art flight simulator. Everything the pilots do is monitored: the slightest movement or change in heartbeat, Grace notices it!
You can read the entire article on de Volkskrant (a Dutch newspaper) web site [in Dutch].
New solution for physiological research
You can now use The Observer® XT with the g.MOBIlab or g.USBamp from g.tec to combine behavioral data with physiological data. We help you to build the right solution, consisting of The Observer and a Data Acquisition (DAQ) system. The Observer is set up to work with a broad range of equipment from several suppliers, like Polar Electric and Biopac Systems, Inc.
A powerful system for studying physiology in its behavioral context is created. g.MOBIlab is a biosignal acquisition system for EEG, ECG, EOG and other sensors. After recording, biosignal data such as respiration, ECG or Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) can be uploaded into The Observer XT for further analysis... For more information please contact us.
New solution for sequential analysis
A great connection has been made between The Observer and GSEQ for Windows. GSEQ (General Sequential Querier) is a really nice addition to the analysis you can do with The Observer. With GSEQ you don’t need complex statistical software to get a bit more information out of your observational data.
GSEQ for Windows, developed by Roger Bakeman and Vicenc Quera, is a program devised for sequential analysis. It reads compiled SDIS files and provides a variety of sequential statistics, including tables of lag frequencies, chi-squares, and adjusted residuals. Several kinds of data modifications are permitted, including recording, lumping, chaining, time-windowing, and removing of behavioral codes. GSEQ can export results for further analyses using SPSS, BMDP, ILOG, etc.
FaceReader in Reykjavik
Wageningen, 22 September 2008 - At The Experiment Marathon (the centerpiece of the Reykjavik Arts Festival) a presentation entitled: Sleep, emotion and the human brain, involved the use of FaceReader. A twenty-minute long video was compiled showing how the software tracked differences in facial expression in participants viewing funny, neutral and sad stimuli.
The Experiment Marathon Reykjavik, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Ólafur Elíasson, is a two-fold project that expands the idea of experimentation and display. It comprises of an exhibition and a public event, which brings together leading international artists, writers and scientists to form a ‘laboratory of experiences’.
This page shows you two highlights of the different facial expressions FaceReader tracked.
PhenoTyper product range extended with lickometer
Wageningen, 10 April 2008 - Today we announce the release of a new extension of our PhenoTyper product range: the lickometer. Although the Noldus lickometer works as a stand-alone product, it is specifically designed for use with PhenoTyper.
