Technical briefing: Boost analysis capability in EthoVision XT with JavaScript variables

In this technical briefing, we’ll take a look at how you can expand the analysis capability in EthoVision XT by creating custom variables with the JavaScript programming language.

Registration is free, but don't wait, because we only have 500 seats available. This technical briefing is meant for researchers evaluating the software for their application as well as experienced users of EthoVision XT.

Abstract

EthoVision XT has a wealth of built-in analysis variables that help you interpret your data. Variables like Speed, Heading, and Movement are used by almost all EthoVision XT users. However, sometimes you wish the software could do more, especially in complex applications.

In this technical briefing, we’ll take a look at how you can expand the analysis capability in EthoVision XT by creating custom variables with the JavaScript programming language. Here a couple of examples:

  • Count the number of animals present in a zone
  • Measure the body length of the subject
  • Detect tail beats in fish
  • Split your track in velocity bins

We’ll also have a quick look at the functions that EthoVision XT uses to extract data. Note that you do not need knowledge of JavaScript to attend this webinar.
