New in Viso

With the released Viso 12, you can create your own video highlights to extract key points of the recorded session. Such a video highlight is very useful to stay focused on a specific moment for further exploration and analysis. Because it is a compact part of the session, it is easier to oversee and assess.

What's new in the latest release

This release improves features introduced in the previous version such as user management and security. It is worthwhile to discover how you can take advantage of these improvements by upgrading to version 12. Read about it below.

NEW: Create your own video highlights

From each recorded session you can summarize one or more fragments from the session into short videos. Default video duration is 6 seconds; 3 seconds before and 3 seconds after the selected point. Maximum duration before and after is 30 seconds allowing for a 1-minute video highlight.

Creating video highlights will help you stay organized. They are easily searchable and shareable with, for example, fellow students, parents, or colleagues.

 


Improvements

With Viso 12, a large number of improvements have been made to make the software even more user-friendly, such as:

  • The user interface for activating the software based license is more straightforward
  • The three different recording options can now be setup by the Technician, without the need of interference of Noldus
  • The Data Transparency dialog is more clearer
  • Several bug-fixes

Data protection lifted to a higher level

By adding the option to set up data retention - the automatic deletion of recorded sessions - requirements stated by HIPAA and GDPR legislation are covered. The retention period must be at least 30 days and can reach a maximum of 9999 days. In the Session overview is shown when sessions are scheduled to be deleted by the Retention mechanism.

Moreover, to keep files safe, enabling the ‘Power save function’ ensures the Viso system to be locked when a user is not using the system for a while.

Extended user management

To offer maximum flexibility, Viso can be setup to be used by different departments and groups within the same company, organization, or institution. For example, at a university of applied sciences both the Nursing and Communication faculty can use the same Viso system, with their own locations without having access to each other's video sessions.

Because two new levels, departments and groups, have been added to the Viso system, the rights per user role have changed slightly.

Starting and stopping a recording made easier

Using HTTP commands, Viso recording locations can be started and stopped from another source. For example, a physical button placed next to the door of a simulation room or trainings location. 

Alternatively, these commands can be used by The Observer XT to start and stop a recording in combination with, for example, an eye tracker and facial expression analysis software to achieve a multimodal measurement.
