Capture and code the behavior of future teachers

Using The Observer XT supports Marie Bocquillon of the Institute of Educational Management of the University of Mons in Belgium to capture the behavior of future teachers. What kind of questions are asked, how do future teachers react to that, do they check whether the students understand their explanation? These observations are used for research about improving teacher practices.

What do i need to run the latest software?

The latest version of The Observer XT has been tested on computers with the following technical specifications:

  • Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)
  • Dell Precision T3660 or higher
  • CPU Intel Core i5 8500
  • 16 GB memory
  • The Observer XT comes with a complete codec package that can process almost all video

We recommend to remove other software (video recording, editing, or burning) or codecs which could interfere with The Observer XT.

At the core of your lab

The Observer® XT is the engine of your lab. Code behaviors accurately on a timeline, from one or multiple videos, include audio, integrate data modalities such as eye tracking, eeg, or emotion data, and visualize and analyze your results all together.

The system requirements for this software depend on its use. Important factors include the use of video, the amount of data, the complexity of data selections and analyses and the size of external data files. For optimal performance and functionality of The Observer XT, an up-to-date computer system is strongly recommended.

Customer quote

"The Observer is a crucial component of our research. It allows us to analyze data with the level of efficiency, detail, accuracy, and precision that's required for behavior analysis in psychological research."

Mrs. B. Gamber|University of Texas, USA

Reliable results for publication

Using The Observer XT, the GOLD STANDARD for coding and analyzing behavior, will higher the probability that the results of your study will be published in a high impact paper.

The Observer XT is already mentioned in more than 15,000 publications across behavioral research domains, cited as thé research tool!

The Observer XT data streams

Ideal data integration platform

Data synchronization is vital when studying time relationships. The Observer XT is especially designed to synchronously playback multiple modalities, such as video, screen captures, location data, physiological signals, eeg data, eye tracking data, and facial expression data.

Use The Observer XT to get complete insight in behavior and physiology and take advantage of fully integrated equipment.

Free white paper

Integrating multiple data streams

To get a more complete picture of the phenomena that you are studying, combining different types of data will benefit your research. The Observer XT allows you to import, synchronize, and analyze data from many different streams, such as eye tracking, facial expressions, and physiology.

This free white paper will show how logged events can be combined and synchronized with external data by using The Observer XT.

Customer quote

"The integration of FaceReader, The Observer XT, and psychophysiological data collection makes research programs possible at locations and within timetables that increase opportunity, quality, and efficiency."

Dr. C. Barton|Davidson College, USA

Facilitating data integration

Prof. Julien Mercier from L'Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada is studying educational research. His lab is looking at refined brain information over time, involving the cognition and the affect of the learner. The Observer XT is used as integration platform.
